HOPE Campaign - Fox61
The Partnership Against Trafficking Humans (PATH) and Tribune Media CT have targeted and enlisted key stakeholders to support and promote our evidence-based public education campaign to foster awareness and protect children from human trafficking in all forms. The overreaching goal is to engage local anti-human trafficking coalitions, and other organizations to educate the public about sexual exploitation of children and domestic minor sex trafficking; and to increase awareness and the number of referrals to the DCF’s Careline and the National Human Trafficking Hotline and Text.
The PATH initiative is comprised of businesses, organizations, civic and religious groups, educational institutions and municipalities which are unified in their conviction that human trafficking in all its forms must be eliminated.
Media CT/FOX 61 has committed all their resources to create a statewide public Tribune information campaign to educate and provide help for Connecticut’s children. Our HOPE for CT campaign launches on September 16, 2019. With the support of the Partnership Against Trafficking Humans (PATH), Tribune Media CT will provide a one-to-one match on the media components for our campaign to prevent sex trafficking of youth.
Tribune Media CT/FOX 61 has recommended a two-pronged strategy for our multi-platform campaign and includes on-air, online and community outreach.
Educational Awareness: targets adults with children under the age of 18 living in the home. Our key messaging is on prevention and treatment and will focus on influencers, such as parents, teachers, coaches and mentors.
Prevention Awareness: targeting children (middle and high schoolers). We will host community conversations and utilizing social media to engage youth and community leaders.
News stories that identify the scope of the problem and provide information about prevention and treatment
Implement an online digital campaign that geographically and behaviorally targets Connecticut youth who are most at risk
Host in-community events to address the primary areas of concern identified by PATH. Tribune Media CT/FOX 61 will invite community leaders, law enforcement, first responders, doctors, specialists, elected officials and families who have been affected by human trafficking to participate. These discussions and recommended actions will be shared via social media.
